Sunset at Petra Tou Romiou

Paphos, Cyprus / March 27, 2012

Petra Tou Romiou (Rock of the Greek), or Aphrodite's Rock, is a sea stack in Pafos, Cyprus. Its status in mythology as the birth place of Aphrodite makes it a popular tourist location.

I arrived just on time for the sunset but unfortunately the weather conditions were far away from perfect. Borring clouds in layers, moisture in the air... It looked like no chance to take good shoots. Anyway, I deployed the camera on the tripod and prepared for the magic hour.

The Sun touched the horizon and fire the sky in colors. The colors did change every minute, every second...

About 10 minutes later, a fantastic pattern of clouds and lights appeared on the sky.

The magic colors continued to change every minute...

The magic did continue, from red and orange to violet...
