Sanctuary of Aphrodite in Kouklia

Sightseeing

Paphos, Cyprus / March 25, 2012

The ancient town of Palaipafos is located within the limits of the modern village of Kouklia, situated close to the mouth of Diarizos river, 16 kilometers east of the modern town of Pafos.

This is one of the most important sanctuaries of Aphrodite throughout the ancient world. It is mentioned by Homer and other Greek and Latin authors.

Most of the artifacts are under the open sky. On the left are remaining from the sanctuary - few mosaics, columns and wall stones. A scenic view of Sanctuary of Aphrodite in Kouklia, Paphos
